3. Simplify and declutter

Firstly, and trust me, I know this can be hard – simplify. You don’t have to throw away treasured memories and family photographs…but you do need to get them out of sight. The sooner you put them in storage the sooner you will be enjoying finding a new pride of place for them in your new home. And if you are struggling to see the wood for the trees, just give us a call and we would be delighted to help you to see your house as a buyer will and make some suggestions for stripping furniture back and making space.

2. ‘Spring’ into action and make sure you present your garden at its best!

Spring is the perfect time to make the best of your outside space and get your gardening gloves on.  Even if you’re not very green fingered, the good news is you don’t have to be!  Just think of the garden as another room in your house.  A well mowed lawn, pressure washed driveway, a few bright hanging baskets and pre-potted planters from the garden centre is a welcoming start, add to that your patio furniture and barbecue, and buyers will be imagining themselves and their friends with a glass of prosecco on a warm summer’s evening.

3. Let the light shine in!

Next on the list is to let the light in –  we love a well-lit room, and so do buyers. Make sure your windows are clean and the curtains fully opened during the day and with an evening viewing invest in some uplighters and lamps to brighten up any dark corners. The best bit is that you get to pick ones you really love and take them with you to your new home.

4. Give your bedroom a hotel makeover!

We love this tip the best – freshen up the bedrooms with all new bed linens.  Who doesn’t love climbing into a freshly made bed?  Surely, it’s one of our favourite things, and you don’t even have to wait for the move to enjoy it. Not that your buyers will be climbing in under your new duvet, but they will sense the freshness.  Crisp bright white, hotel style linens topped off with some textured throws and comfy cushions, a pair of matching bedside lamps and your well on your way to a beautiful bedroom!

5. Accessorise your room!

Continue the freshness with a spring theme by accessorising other rooms in the house – take some time to enjoy picking a few hints of spring you can bring inside your home, candles with a light fragrance and a bowl of citrus fruits on the kitchen counter or dining table, indulgent hand soaps and reed diffusers to fragrance your heavenly bathrooms.  We know moving can be stressful – it’s our job after all – so let us help you find the moments of pure pleasure hidden in the process.

6. Flowers, flowers everywhere!

And finally – buy some spring blooms!  We just love a bouquet of flowers, preferably given to us!!  However, we don’t mind buying them either. Fill vases around your home with the joys of spring and buyers will be excited at the fresh looks and fragrances that greet them when they enter what could well be their new home, for the first time.
